On 21 February 1960, it included its first Boeing 707-420 named Gauri Shankar and became the first Asian airline to induct a jet aircraft in its fleet.In 2000–01, attempts were made to privatize Air India and from 2006 onwards, it suffered losses after its merger with Indian.Air India also operates flights to domestic and Asian destinations through its subsidiaries Air India Regional and Air India Express. Air India uses the Airbus A320 family and Boeing 787 aircraft for selected domestic routes while long distance services use the Boeing 777-300ER, 747 and 787 aircraft. Air India's mascot is the Maharajah and the logo consists of a flying Swan with the wheel of Konark inside it.

Age Limit : Maximum 28 years for General Category; 31 years for OBC as on 01-07-2016 & Relaxation in age limit will be applicable as per rules.
Education Qualification : Candidates should have AME Diploma/ Certificate in aircraft maintenance Engineering from institute approved by DGCA under Rule 133B with 60% marks/equivalent grade (55% marks/equivalent grade for SC/ST/OBC Candidates) or Successful Completion of 4 years course/ Diploma in Aircraft/ Electrical/Instruments/ Radio Artifier Training conducted by Indian Navy which are accetable by DGCA.
Pay Scale : Rs. 15,000/- P/M
Application Fee : Candidates have to pay Rs. 1000/- through SBI Challan. No need to pay application fee by Ex-servicemen and SC/ST communities.
